The $7 Lead: How One Facebook Ad Filled a Taekwondo School for Over a Year

Adria Cot · July 22, 2026

All numbers in this post come from the school’s real Ads Manager export, November 2024 → March 2026.

Most martial arts school ads die in two weeks.

The owner boosts a post, watches it eat $200, gets three leads who never answer the phone, and concludes “Facebook doesn’t work for us.” Or the opposite: an agency launches something flashy, it works for a month, then they churn creative endlessly because “ad fatigue” — and every new creative is a new gamble at the owner’s expense.

Here’s what actually happened when we got it right for Kickin2Fitness, a taekwondo school in Decatur, Georgia — one ad, launched January 28, 2025, that was still profitably running when we exported the account thirteen months later.

The receipts

MetricThe winning adWhole account (16 months)

Cost per lead$7.05$8.49
Spend$4,593$14,704

One video generated 38% of every lead the school got from ads across sixteen months. No landing-page wizardry, no $10k funnel. A ~60-second video of the head instructor talking to camera.

What was in the ad

Master Spellen, Kickin2Fitness’s head instructor, in his own dojang, saying — nearly word for word:

“Many parents think that martial arts is only about kicking and punching. But it’s much more than that. It’s an investment in your child’s future.”

Then: what the kids actually get (focus, discipline, doing better at school, standing up for themselves, making friends), and a free trial class as the ask. That’s the whole ad.

Why it worked — three things worth stealing

1. The messenger is the product. Parents aren’t buying taekwondo; they’re buying the person their kid will spend three hours a week with. A real instructor on camera beats any stock-footage montage, because trust is the actual purchase decision. If you own a school and you’re not the face of your ads, you’re hiding your best asset.

2. It sells the outcome, not the activity. Not one second of the ad lists belt curriculum or class schedules. It names what parents lie awake worrying about — focus, discipline, confidence — and positions the school as the investment that fixes it. “Kicking and punching” is mentioned only to dismiss it.

3. One angle per ad — and the data picked the angle. We ran the “discipline/investment” angle against a “protect your child from bullying” angle. Same school, same audience, same offer. Discipline angle: $7.05 per lead. Bullying/fear angle: $11.34–$16.71 per lead. The positive-aspiration frame beat the fear frame by ~40% — we didn’t have to guess, the account told us. Run angles as separate ads and let the CPL vote.

The part nobody tells you: winners don’t need replacing

“Refresh your creative every two weeks” is national-brand advice that quietly wrecks local advertisers. At a local school’s budget, in a metro-sized audience, a genuinely resonant ad takes months to saturate. This one ran over a year. The discipline (ironically) is in not touching it: no pausing to try something new, no budget fiddling out of boredom. You kill a winner when the numbers say so, not when you get tired of looking at it.

Steal this checklist

  • Owner/head instructor on camera, in the school — no stock footage
  • Script sells outcomes parents want (focus, discipline, confidence), not features
  • One angle per ad; test aspiration vs. fear and let cost-per-lead decide
  • Low-friction offer: free trial class
  • When you find a winner, leave it alone

The full script — steal it

The exact script, anonymized so you can drop your own school in. Re-record it in your own voice, in your own school — don’t read it like a script, say it like you mean it:

Hi. I’m [Instructor Name].

And I am passionate about helping children develop discipline and focus to achieve their goals and live an amazing life.

Over the past decade I’ve helped countless children transform their lives through martial arts.

Many parents think that martial arts is only about kicking and punching. But it’s much more than that.

It’s an investment, in your child’s future.

Here at [School Name] we teach children how to focus on their goals. And the discipline they need to get there.

If you want to empower your children to do better at school, stand up for themselves if needed, and make more friends — I invite you to bring your child in, for a free trial class. So you can see how we can make a difference in their lives.

I look forward to seeing you at [School Name].
